Diabetes with ED
Erectile dysfunction and diabetes
The solution
Most men experience episodes of erectile dysfunction from time to time, but you’re not doomed to a lifetime of erectile dysfunction just because you have diabetes. Take action today!
- Control your blood sugar level. Good blood sugar control can prevent the nerve and blood vessel damage that leads to erectile dysfunction. If you’re having trouble controlling your blood sugar level or following your diabetes treatment plan, talk to your doctor.
- Manage your medications. If you’re taking any medications that may be contributing to erectile dysfunction — such as certain drugs used to treat depression or high blood pressure — ask your doctor about changing your treatment plan.
- Stop smoking. Smoking and using other types of tobacco narrows your blood vessels. This contributes to blockages that can lead to erectile dysfunction. Smoking can also decrease nitric oxide levels, which may hamper blood flow to your penis.
- Limit how much alcohol you drink. Drinking too much alcohol — more than two drinks a day — can damage your blood vessels and make erectile dysfunction more likely. (more…)

Herbal sex pills

They’re touted as the natural remedy for erectile dysfunction (ED), but what you may be popping to perform in bed may cause reactions you weren’t expecting.A recent investigation by the Associated Press revealed that male enhancement pills touted with natural ingredients may actuallyhave more of the drug contained in prescription-only equivalents. And Pfizer, maker of Viagra, reported that it conducted its own study of over 3,000 herbal enhancement supplements and found that nearly 70 per cent of them contained the main ingredient found in Viagra. The danger of unknown ingredients doesn’t lie in the established and approved lab-tested brands, but in unregulated knock-offs sold over the Internet.Matthew Pyatt, a naturopathic doctor with Grassroots Naturopathic in Calgary, says there are alternatives to the happy little blue pill, citing there are certain proven amino acids, vitamins and herbs that can be used.

A “typical Viagra user” would be hard to define because we are all different and have different needs. It is, however, probably fair to say that most men who try Viagra are very happy with the results; and most would like to reduce the high cost.
Physicians normally offer 50mg samples and suggest that the 50mg dosage should be tried first to see if it is effective. Viagra is also available in a 25mg tablet and a 100mg tablet - most users soon discover that a tablet costs about $10 regardless of dosage.
USA approval for once daily Cialis pill
January 9, 2008
Eli Lilly’s once-a-day version of its erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment Cialis (tadalafil) has finally got the go ahead from US regulators, six months after approval in the EU.The approval means the new formulation is now available to men on the other side of the Atlantic, allowing sufferers of ED
to attempt sexual activity at any time between doses, rather than during the narrow time frame dictated by the ‘on demand’ version.
According to Lilly, the once daily Cialis formulation is intended for men who anticipate more frequent sexual activity (i.e. twice weekly), and contains a lower dose than the previously approved version that is taken as needed.
The newly approved formulation, aside from offering perhaps a more convenient and attractive option to men, will also be no more taxing on their wallets. According to Lilly, the wholesale pricing for the once-daily Cialis will be comparable to the as-needed formulation, so that patients who currently use two or more pills of the as-needed version should not have higher treatment costs through using the once-daily product.Gaining EU approval in June last year, the once-a-day product is currently available only in parts of Europe, but introduction to further countries is expected throughout 2008.
